HIROMI SHIMABUKURO
DIRECTOR / ART DIRECTOR – FASHION STYLIST
Her professional career began in the advertising industry, working with international agencies such as BBDO, Young & Rubicam, and Leo Burnett, where she led regional accounts for major retail brands including Falabella and Ripley. She later joined the international beauty company Belcorp, overseeing the creative and visual development of the brand Ésika—an experience that strengthened her strategic approach at the intersection of fashion, beauty, and brand communication.
Over time, her practice expanded into film, fashion, and audiovisual projects, developing her work across diverse creative contexts and participating in productions in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Paris, and Barcelona. Building on a solid foundation in art direction and fashion styling, her career evolved toward directing, leading fashion short films and author-driven audiovisual projects.
As an art director, she participated in the film Moonheart, winner of the Sci-Fi London Film Festival and nominated for Best Art Direction. The film also received the award for Best Film at the Boston Science Film Festival and represented Peru at the 2023 Academy Awards.
To date, she has produced, created, and directed four fashion films and one music video—works that have received international awards and nominations. Her work is defined by a distinctive authorial aesthetic that merges cinematic storytelling, fashion, and contemporary art direction.
