MONTJUIC VIRGIN
by BASILIO SILVA text by MARIUS TROY
August 2009 was the last time we featured Basilio Silva‘s work on Ben Trovato. Now, more than four years later we’re thrilled to present his first exclusive editorial for us, entitled Montjuic Virgin.
The story, that features Anastasia Milli from Uno Models Barcelona, was shot on Mount Montjuic outside Barcelone, and is inspired by a Latin American Virgin and the Catholic religion. “Our idea seemed to fit perfectly into this world full of thorns, where beauty may be the most subtile detail,” Basilio said about the location. The clothes, pulled by creative director and stylist Hiromi Shimabukuru, are a mix of Peruvian and Spanish designers along with some well known brands.
Basilio and Hiromi worked together on commercial jobs for Benetton and Desigual in Colombia, and have been longing to do an editorial together back in Europe where Basilio is now based. “I’m living and working in Paris now, and Hiromi traveled to France to make to do a catalog for a brand. So we seized the opportunity, traveled to Barcelona, and finally shot an editorial together!”
